Mayor Visits Community Redevelopment Sites

In an inspection visit to two Zhongzheng District boroughs where redevelopment plans have been carried out, Mayor Hau Lung-bin expressed his satisfaction over the results and attributed the success to the cooperation between the public and private sectors.

According to Hau, he was glad to see two rundown buildings in Zhongqin Borough transformed into a LOHAS site providing recreation for users from all age groups.

He toured the new facilities which comprise book returns station, love kitchen, computer classroom, and counseling classroom. He also joined local seniors in playing Wii during an interactive session.

The mayor pointed out that the City welcomes rejuvenation proposals – as long as they comply with existing regulations and demonstrate unique visions. Describing borough chiefs as the “peripheral nerves” of city administration, he noted that the goal of community shaping is to prevent numbness of the nerves and remain proactive in understanding the needs of local residents.

In addition to the LOHAS site of Zhongqin Borough, Hau also visited Dongmen and Xingfu boroughs to see the newly planted green areas which used to be derelict spaces but have been injected new life, thanks to the efforts of the borough chiefs.
