How does the family handle the body of the deceased?
A:The family of the deceased may collect the Taipei City Mortuary Services Office Funeral and Burial Facility Application Form from the MSO First Parlor or MSO Second Parlor and complete the form to apply for body transportation. Rules for body transportation are as follows: 1.During the office hours, applicants should obtain the death certificate or autopsy documents issued by the District Prosecution Office before they can apply for transporting the body to the MSO funeral parlor for refrigeration (body transportation hotline: 87329762). 2.When it is after office hours or on holidays and they are unable to obtain the death certificate or autopsy documents issued by the District Prosecution Office, applicants may apply for body transportation according to the following rules. (1)When the deceased passed away in the hospital, applicants should apply for a death certificate from the hospital and submit it to the MSO funeral parlor on the next business day. When the deceased passed away at home, applicants should notify the local health center or a clinic to issue a death certificate or administrative autopsy certificate before applying for body transportation. (2)When the deceased passed away in an accident, the police should contact the public prosecutor. When the autopsy cannot be conducted immediately, applicants should apply for a body transportation notice issued by the supervisor of the above units before applying for body transportation. (3)When the deceased passed away as a result of a statutory infectious disease, the body should first be processed by the attending hospital. Applicants should bring the death certificate to the MSO funeral parlor to apply for a cremation permit and book the crematorium to cremate the body. No body transportation will be arranged by the MSO. (4)The body transportation of the deceased killed in a severe accident or disaster should be applied for as a special case. 3.After the body is transported to the MSO parlor, the family may arrange the funeral, such as the seventh day ceremony, sutra reading, burial or cremation, grave site or ossuary selection, determination of the procession day, booking of funereal hall, booking of crematorium, application for burial (cremation) permit, obituary printing etc.
